Roots Leadership Program

Planting Seeds.

The Roots Leadership Program is an innovative program developed by the leadership of the Port Washington Library Foundation designed to train Port Washington sophomores and juniors in civic leadership.

The Roots initiative enlists dynamic experts in their field to visit our workshop sessions and help prepare our trainees to do their own hands-on work in our community. Our training emphasizes and cultivates communication skills, teamwork, and public speaking, as well as collaboration, networking, and organizing for good.

Growing Leaders.

We are an immersive program that pairs leadership training with leadership opportunities by building a well-trained cohort of high school students.

We encourage our local nonprofits to tap into our Roots-trained leaders to help with social media outreach, market research, team-building for specific events, etc!

*If you are a local organization or student-run service project interested in leadership support from our Roots team, please click here!*

If you are a rising sophomore or junior interested in applying to be part of our next cohort, watch this space and follow us on our student-run Instagram! Applications will become available December 2024 for the Spring training program.
