About the Foundation
Funding the Future of the Library
The Port Washington Library Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that raises funds to support the needs of the Port Washington Public Library not covered by taxes. Established 33 years ago in 1989, the Foundation has given the library more than $4,000,000 in private funds for additional programming, advanced technology, new initiatives, and upgrades to the library’s building and grounds.
Our Successes:
Expanded Wi-Fi on the grounds of the Library and outdoor furniture to meet the needs of the community during COVID-19 and beyond
Annual Funding for the Library's five advisory councils - Art, Music, Children's, Nautical, and Health
Books for Dessert - a book club to improve social skills and literacy for adults with intellectual disabilities who have aged out of the education system
Homegrown Readers - one-on-one home visits to enhance parenting skills and early literacy
Tepper intergenerational museum and baseball trips
The newly renovated Jackie & Hal Spielman Children’s Library
The Joan & Arnold Saltzman Reading Room and endowment
Digitization of archived photos and records from Port Washington’s history
Jobs and Career Center including the Job Search Boot Camp
Lapham Meeting Room lights and sound system
Baby Bump - A free workshop series for expectant parents featuring professional pregnancy and childcare experts
